  1. A rule used to recall which way a wire
  2. connected to a source of electricity will
  3. move when near a magnet. The thumb and first
  4. two fingers of the left hand are placed at
  5. right angles to each other. If the first
  6. finger is pointed in the direction of the
  7. magnetic field (from the N to the S pole of
  8. the magnet) and the second finger is pointed
  9. in the direction of the electric current
  10. (from the positive terminal to the negative
  11. terminal of the electric source), the thumb
  12. will point in the direction in which the wire
  13. will move.
